Morning Skincare Routine

Hey! Y’all have been asking me for an updated morning skincare routine. I’ve been experimenting with a couple new products lately, but a few of these are OG skincare faves. Here is my morning skincare routine as of late:

You can watch my Instagram video doing my morning skincare routine here.

When I first wake up, I cleanse with Biologique Recherche Last VIP02 cleanser (I buy all my Biologique Recherche from my facialist in Houston, Deborah Michelson at Bella Rinova in River Oaks District). For years, I just splashed water on my face. Then about 8 or 10 years ago, I started using a gentle cleanser in the morning. As a result, my breakouts went down. However, keep in mind, I really think that it depends on your skin type.

So after I do my masking and all my devices (which is enough for a separate video), I then spray with the Tower SOS spray. I feel like this hypochlorus acid spray really cuts down on my breakouts and helps redness. Note that you should let it dry completely before continuing with your next skincare step.

For the next step, I use a vitamin C serum. Phloretin CF is one of my all-time favorites from SkinCeuticals. I’m nearing the end of this bottle. I switch between a bunch of different ones. Whatever the brand, it is extremely important that you use a vitamin C serum every single day to fight against environmental aging! Not only is premature aging caused by the sun but it is also caused by environmental aggressors like pollution.

Current eye products.

Next I do The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Eye Serum. I have been using this cheap ordinary one to see if it is a good replacement for the BIOEFFECT EGF Eye Serum that I absolutely love. Peptides are going to help tighten crepey skin.

Next I do an eye cream that I just started using. I’m using this RoC Retinol Eye Cream because I’m trying to find some more affordable drugstore products. This one had extremely good reviews on Amazon but I will report back if I like it.

Next I apply Musely Anti-Aging Estriol Cream. In perimenopause our bodies’ estrogen levels decrease, resulting in thinner skin and loss of elasticity. The Musely Anti-Aging Cream is a topical estrogen (estriol) cream that is supposed to plump skin, restore elasticity, shrink pores, and improve dryness and dullness.

I have been using Musely Anti-Aging Cream for probably several months now. I don’t know if it’s doing anything yet but I’m going to use the whole bottle and then report back. I don’t know that I am in perimenopause yet, so the Musely Anti-Aging cream would probably make a bigger difference in someone who is in full-on menopause with low estrogen.

I do a couple spritzes of my fave Tan Luxe Express Water self-tanner with no fake tan smell. It has great, non-orange, natural color and it develops faster than other ones do. You start getting color in about 30 minutes. Then to kind of spread that around I use my sunscreen. I absolutely love this Summer Fridays Mineral Sunscreen. It works on all skin tones. It does not leave a white cast like a lot of mineral sunscreens do. Make sure you take that all the way down your neck. I just absolutely love this one!

Then the final step is the BeautyBio Illuminating Blendrops. I use the Illuminizing shade most regular days. I also really like the BeautyBio Bronzing Blendrops for during the summer or on vacation. This adds an extra layer of SPF and a beautiful glow that minimizes oil but does not dry me out. I am absolutely obsessed with it!

And that’s it!
