My NEW Everyday Makeup Routine

It’s about time that I did another blog post about my current everyday makeup routine! Oh well, better late than never, since I have some new, favorite, Holy Grail discoveries to share with you! Here’s a rundown of my current everyday makeup routine for October 2015:

FOUNDATION: I’ve been using drugstore hero Cover Girl Clean Whipped Creme Foundation for the past few months. It blends flawlessly, is invisible on my skin, and makes my under eye circles easier to cover up. It is discontinued (Grrr!), but you can still find pots here and there at your grocery store. My second favorite is Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Ulta-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup in Beige 10.

UNDER EYE CONCEALER: If I really want to go all out, I use a corrector and then two different under eye concealers. Don’t judge me! First comes the Bobbi Brown Corrector in Extra Light Bisque. Dot on with your ring finger only on the darkest blue areas- for me, it is the inner corners and along the eye sockets.

The pink tones of the Bobbi Brown corrector work to cancel out blueish circles (or use a peach corrector if you have yellow-toned skin and greenish circles). If I’m in a hurry, I sometimes use the corrector alone because it does a great job of canceling out the darkness!

Next I use old standby, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. Don’t use the wand directly on your skin– take some concealer off the wand with your ring finger, and gently pat onto your circles. I love that the Nars does not crease! Finally, I use a tiny dot of Laura Mercier High Coverage Concealer if there is still any darkness peeking through. Use a VERY small pinprick amount! Really you could get by just using any one of these concealers/correctors because they are very good. But if you are serious about camouflage…use my three step protocol.

POWDER: Stila Set & Illuminate Baked Powder Trio, always and forever. It is totally the best setting powder and is like an Instagram filter for your face. I have now repurchased this powder two times.

BLUSH: I’ve been alternating between drugstore gem Maybelline Master Hi-Light Blush in Nude (the shimmer subtly highlights cheekbones). If I am feeling pale and need a pop of color on my cheeks, I use Make Up For Ever HD Blush. Shade 210 is the perfect cool pink flush- not salmon or peachy.

BRONZER: Physician’s Formula Glow-Boosting BB Bronzer. Don’t be afraid to apply with a heavier hand to build up the darkness of this powder bronzer. And bonus: it contains titanium dioxide for extra sun protection (in conjunction with the zinc oxide sunscreen or tinted moisturizer you are already using!).

MASCARA: I’ve been using one coat of Maybelline Big Eyes mascara, followed by Cover Girl Clump Crusher Extension Mascara to comb through the clumps. The Big Eyes is blacker and more volumizing than using the Clump Crusher alone, but you need the Clump Crusher to get rid of the clumpiness.

EYELINER: none.

BROWS: Still using my Jentry Kelley Eyebrow Brush to apply Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Blonde. On the “tails” of my brows, I started using It Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Pencil because I can be a little more precise than with the powder.

EYESHADOW: A new favorite discovery! Bare Minerals 5-in-1 BB Eye Cream Shadow in Barely Nude. I got a sample size of this, used it up, and bought the full size. It is a whipped creme-textured creme eye shadow with a doe-foot applicator, similar to the Laura Mercier Eye Basics, but I like this one better because it looks less dry. They have a full range of nude shades, so this brightens up my lid-to-brow area, covers up veins and redness, all while looking like I have nothing on. An essential product for the “no eye makeup” look!

LIPSTICK: I’ve been reaching for a pale, mod pink that is lighter than my natural lip color. It somehow brightens up my face and makes me look a little more tan. For a splurge, I like YSL Rouge Volupte in Lingerie Pink. Or you could pick up NYX Butter Lipstick in Cotton Candy at the grocery store for a similar look! The YSL lasts a little longer, but the NYX is a little more creamy and moisturizing. Ah, the eternal tradeoff…

Here’s the final look:

Hope you enjoyed reading about my current makeup routine!
