It Cosmetics Hello Lashes Extensions Review

I’m excited to review a brand, spankin’ new mascara! Welcome to my esteemed collection, It Cosmetics Hello Lashes Extensions Mascara! You may be thinking, hey, that’s not new! The difference is the “Extensions” part: It Cosmetics has taken their Hello Lashes 5-in-1 mascara and added exclusive “melted fiber” technology for increased volume and length. I hope you enjoy my It Cosmetics Hello Lashes Extensions review:

Hello Lashes Extensions boasts all the benefits of regular Hello Lashes mascara, but with added fiber extensions. So what does the regular Hello Lashes claim to do? Five things in one step: lash primer, lash enhancing serum, lash tint, lash curler and lash comb. It is a natural formula that is paraben and sulfate-free. The new “Extensions” version contains all that, plus it is infused with “blackest-black melted nylon fibers” for an even more dramatic look. Both mascaras use a unique three-sided plastic comb-wand with a little ball on the tip for coating and combing through your smaller corner lashes.

I discovered this new mascara release on my most recent Ulta excursion. They had a little pop-up stand with disposable mascara wands (that are identical to the unique ball-tip wand you find in the mascara). A quick coat of my lashes at the store had amazing results– it seemed to stretch my lashes to new lengths, and it created a noticeably uplifted, fluttery look. The unique ball tip was surprisingly easy to use and adept at reaching the inner lashes when used in a vertical motion. No clumping, and my lashes looked slightly glossier and less product-y than with other mascaras, almost with a natural looking taper at the end of the lash (like high-end fake eyelashes do). I didn’t notice any real volumizing– but it lengthened very well, which is my main priority anyway. No flaking during the rest of the day of wear. At night it washed off easily with my normal face wash and water.

The stars were aligning for Hello Lashes Extensions to become my new Holy Grail mascara! So I promptly went back to Ulta to purchase it the next day. My experience with the actual product has been pretty good, but not quite as exciting as I originally thought. My assessment is this: the Hello Lashes Extensions is better when you limit it to one coat. More than one coat does add more volume, but it also starts to look more spidery, closing in on Younique territory.

As you can see in the photo comparison above, one coat of the Hello Lashes Extensions produced fluttery lashes that were just as long as the spidery ones you get from two coats. I much prefer the look of the top photo, but if you want more volume, I found that layering ol’ standby CoverGirl Clump Crusher Extensions on top had a better outcome than additional coats of the Hello Lashes.

To summarize: It Cosmetics Hello Lashes Extensions is a very good mascara that looks best with one coat, but it is not my favorite mascara ever.

xoxo,
