My New Everyday Makeup Routine

Have makeup, will travel! I had so much fun in Midland last week doing a beauty blog talk for sorority alumni group. Although I usually just discuss my favorite products, they requested that I do makeup on one of them and explain my routine and all the products I was using. I’m not a professional makeup artist (though I logged lots of hours doing makeup on my friends in college), so I was a little intimidated, but I had so much fun! Let’s recap the products I talked about so you won’t have any FOMO.

And in case you are over that whole reading thing, I made a YouTube video about my everyday makeup routine. Check it out and let me know if you’d like to see more videos:

Here’s a rundown of all the makeup I use, in the order I used them:

Foundation: My everyday go-to is the It Cosmetics CC Cream Ilumination in Light  (it is slightly dark on me, so I feel like it would work on skin that is not quite as pale as mine.

Concealer: I drew the Maybelline Illuminating pencil in Light on top of dark circles and then tapped my fave MUD Corrector  (in shade Blue Corrector 1) on top. I also tapped the MUD on redness around the nose and chin.

Powder: I used a fluffy brush (from Real Techniques– cheapo and great) to set her makeup with an illuminating powder. I like the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder  (I use the Ethereal Light shade— looks like it would be too white but it works on me).

Bronzer: I use the shimmery (not matte) version of Tarte Park Avenue Princess:  For a natural look, I recommend just sweeping bronzer on the top of your forehead, tops of cheekbones, and under your jawline to disguise that “beer band”! LOL

Powder blush: You can’t go wrong with Nars Orgasm:  Try swirling it on the apples of your cheeks, kind of closer to your nose to thin the face. Blush placement really depends upon your face shape, but try this technique and see how you like it. I use the Bobbi Brown blush brush.

Brows: For a quick brow, I just sweep down on the “tails” of my brows where it is sparse with this Maybelline Brow Precise mascara:

Highlight under the arches of your brows with Benefit HighBrow:  Gives a lifted, wide awake look in one swipe!

Mascara: I use Cover Girl Super Sizer in Black Brown:  You really can skip the eyelash curler with this one because it lifts/curls your lashes by itself to open up your eyes.

A quick sweep of Maybelline Color Tattoo Crayon in Bronze Truffle along my upper lashline gives slightly more definition and a beautiful sheen. No blending necessary! LOVE.

Lips: Nars Velvet Lip Glide in Unlaced:  I’m obsessed with this light nude pink, in the most comfortable formula ever.

Setting spray: Urban Decay All Nighter:  A couple spritzes of this after you do your makeup really makes a big difference in the wear time of your foundation!

Done and out the door in seven minutes!

xoxo,
